Question: When I add a topic, the topic title is not valid, what does this mean?
Answer: This is completely normal. HotTopic can't retrieve all information when a topic is inactive, but when someone replies on that topic, HotTopic will automatically replace the the topic title with the proper title. You can also edit the topic title if HotTopic doesn't know the title. |
Question: I'm behind a proxy, can i still use HotTopic?
Answer: HotTopic uses your Internet Explorer proxy configuration, so if you can surf, you can use HotTopic. In rare cases the proxy caches too much, reconfigure your proxy or ask your system administrator. Proxies that uses username and password verification (Socks 5) don't work (yet) with HotTopic. |
Question: What are the minimum system specifications for HotTopic?
Answer: HotTopic has been succesfully tested on Windows 9x/Me/2000/XP/2003 running Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher. HotTopic uses the MSXML parser, if you notice any problems, you can try to download the most recent MSXML parser version here. |
Question: HotTopic crashes when I try to shutdown Windows and/or Windows won't shutdown correctly if HotTopic is active.
Answer: This is a problem with the MSXML parser and almost always with Windows 98 (SE). To fix this problem, update the XML parser: click here. |
